Both sides of the Australian Parliament appear to be happy that the Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (AIATSIS) has been awarded 12 months of dedicated funding to arrest some of the loss to its delicate collection. These funds will be used for digital preservation. Longer term plans for the safeguarding of the fuller breadth and depth of this unique collection will be discussed over the next twelve months with the Minister for Education, the Hon. Christopher Pyne.
