Australia takes an 'arts turn'

Australia's new National Cultural Policy, Creative Australia, has been very warmly received by Australia's arts, digital, and 'creative industries' communities.

Significance International has reviewed Creative Australia using a broad definition of culture in which arts and the 'creative industries' (springing from artistic expression) comprise just one part.

The review suggests what would naturally convey distinctive Australian perspective, and asks Minister the Hon Tony Burke to ensure that the forthcoming National Heritage Strategy fills important gaps left open in Creative Australia.
